Medical Program Course: USMLE Step 2

Course Overview

Step 2 assesses whether you can apply medical knowledge, skills, and understanding of clinical science essentials for the provision of patient care under supervision and emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention. Step 2 ensures that due attention is devoted to principles of clinical sciences and basic patient-centered skills that provide the foundation for safe and competent practice of medicine. Step 2 CK is constructed according to an integrated content outline that organizes clinical science material along two dimensions: physician task and disease category.

Objectives

This course will prepare you for your Step 2 CK exam with the assumption that you have already covered most of the material in the first few years of undergraduate medicine including some experience in a clinical setting. Main concepts in each of the major subject areas will be reviewed and test-taking strategies will be reinforced.

Prerequisites

At least two years of medical school covering basic sciences. Some clinical rotation/clerkship experience.
