Focus Education Centre of Canada was established on July 2nd, 2013 in Mississauga, Ontario. Initially Focus Education Centre of Canada was started with only the English program where the students prepared for English proficiency tests such as IELTS, CELPIP, TOEFL, and MELAB which are required for College and University admissions as well as for Immigration purposes.

Focus Education Centre of Canada Inc. is a family owned business. Keeping in view the struggles of new professional immigrants such as doctors from other countries and realizing the dire need of a place where medical students get guidance, peer support and mentoring for their chosen career paths while receiving academic support, the Medical programs were added to the teaching schedule. The objective was to establish a place where IMG (International Medical Graduates) and CSA (Canadians Studying Abroad) could come and truly understand the pathway to practicing medicine in Canada. Our goal is to create a safe environment in which students felt welcome.

We help International Medical Graduates (IMGs) and Canadians Studying Abroad (CSA) who were returning to Canada after completing medical school overseas by preparing them for all the Canadian qualifying exams such as MCCEE, NAC-OSCE, MCCQE1, MCCQE2 with CARM’s application and American board exams like the USMLE Step 1 (United States Medical Licensing Examination Step 1), USMLE Step 2 CK (United States Medical Licensing Examination Step 2 CK), USMLE Step 2 CS (United States Medical Licensing Examination Step 2 CS). We also provide IMGs waiting for their residence placements opportunities to help other IMGs. We have incredibly dedicated, outstanding, and aspiring physicians who are IMGs and CSA that have joined our team in the capacity of Instructors.

Prior to beginning any medical coursework, we require students going through a 3-hr pre-course interview with the medical director, which helps students identify their ‘learning disability’. The results of this session are shared with the instructors, who, while maintaining confidentiality, use this information to devise individual study strategies and schedules. This process not only improves the level of comfort between our students and faculty, it also increases the students’ interest and gets them more involved.

Our goal at FECC is to empower students with the knowledge and tools to prepare for ANY medical exam they encounter during their medical career while at the same time, enhancing their skills in empathy and compassion.
